How to Find a Good Real Estate Agent
Selling a house is a tricky ordeal. You have to be sure that you get your money’s worth whilst not aiming so far above your house level that nobody is interested. The simplest way to get this figured out is with a real estate agent. The question is, how does one go about finding a real estate agent? There are several things that you should be looking out for. Find all these things in your real estate agent and you should be good to go!
Good Reputation from Past Clients
A good real estate agent will have a strong reputation from their past clients. Find out who your potential real estate agent has worked for in the past and get into contact with them. There’s no need to delve deep into detail; simply ask around about what the past clients thought about the agent. If the majority of them have high praise or at least found them adequate, then you should be able to move on. If there are a decent number of past clients who were unimpressed or unhappy with the real estate agent’s work, you should probably look elsewhere.
High Class Credentials
All good real estate agents have certified credentials of various forms. These credentials will appear as letters alongside their professional profile. If you are unsure what these mean, here are a few examples:
CRS (Certified Residential Specialist): Completed additional training in handling residential real estate.
ABR (Accredited Buyer’s Representative): Completed additional education in representing buyers in transactions.
SRES (Seniors Real Estate Specialist): Completed training aimed at helping buyers and sellers in the 50-plus age range.
If you are considering working with a real estate agent who has none of these, I would recommend finding a new one! These credentials are one of few things that you can fully trust when it comes to a real estate agent. If they have none, then you will have no way of knowing how qualified or not they are!
Long Lasting Successful Business
One of the best ways to know if a real estate agent is good is to have access to their past records. Any professional real estate agent will have a website of their own, with all their past work on it. Looking over their work, it should be easy to determine how efficient or not this real estate agent is. If reviews of them are high and their ability to sell a house for a high price is there, then you should be fine to go ahead and employ them as your own agent. If it is unclear how well they performed, or their past work is unavailable, then it is likely they are hiding this for a reason!
Knowledge of the Area
The final thing you should determine once you have made sure that your chosen real estate agent is qualified is to inquire about the surrounding area. If your real estate agent is aware of the pricings and general conditions of the houses nearby, you know they are ready to get your house sold for the highest possible price!
